Question: I had also asked another question pertaining to the long term effects of prolonged cialis usage; I wanted to know whether this could actually impair (or exacerbate) the body's production of the enzyme that is blocked by the pill, or would this simply go back to normal once the Intake stops?
Answer: Clinical studies on the matter suggest there are no long term effects of taking the medication on the body's ability to produce the enzyme blocked by PDE-5 inhibitors like Cialis: "Oral agents are relatively non-invasive, reversible, readily administered and well tolerated" (Brock 2002 - http://www.europeanurology.com/article/S1569-9056%2802%2900113-6/abstract) In fact, the reversible aspect is why the daily dosing regimen of Cialis Once a Day must be consistent in order for the treatment to work on a 24 hour basis. The effects of Cialis OAD wear off quite quickly if you interrupt treatment, and effects of Cialis 10mg or 20mg tablets wear off completely within 48 hours of taking a tablet. If you take the 5mg tablets sporadically as you say then as you would expect, the effects of this smaller dose last less than 48 hours.
